The Birth Doula is a non-medical professional who provides support to the birthing person and support partner during labor and birth. Support for both parties can be physical, emotional, and informational. Doulas work with the family to achieve the most satisfying birth and postpartum experiences possible. Working with a Birth Doula can decrease the use of medical interventions, reduce time in labor, decrease the anxiety of the birthing person and/or support person, improve bonding with baby post-birth, etc. Alyssa is a DONA trained Birth Doula

Duties may include:
- Accompaniment to prenatal appointments
- Providing evidence based information
- Providing physical comfort measures through touch and massage
- Providing emotional support
- Advocate for birth and labor preferences
- Incorporating changes to labor plans
- Early lactation support immediately following birth
- Postpartum check ins
